Movies and Eats: Banapple, Mr. Holmes

Friday movie night @ Galleria (again!)

We ordered Chicken parmigiana and a slice of Apple Pie :)))

We just had a "light" dinner so we still have room for fries :))))

hmm matamis

Mr. Holmes

Not the movie I expected with its slow paced-drama.
I thought it was exciting and thrilling. I really don't like when other authors make Sherlock Holmes a normal human. He's exceptional in my imagination ;p  But still this movie was creative and good on its own, that kind of movie that leaves you a feeling of questioning or reflecting your own life's journey and purpose. :)))

weekend! relax, breath and reflect, right snowbell? :))))

Movies and Eats: Pho Bac, AntMan

friday movie night at Gallera :)))

Dinner first at Pho Bac.
Fresh rolls with peanut sauce for appetizer, then we both ordered a bowl of noodles:
Chicken noodles and Beef Noodles
Vietnamese noodles are very flavorful with fresh ingredients and just perfect for a chilly weather.

Then movie! very light and funny story, kids will love it for sure :))

PS: I recently followed some inspiring accounts on my Social Media (instagram, twitter, fb).
Sometimes we just need reminders from experienced people :))

Yay weekend! :)

Movies and Eats: Terminator, Masuki

Fans like me would probably feel the same nostalgic feeling while watching this movie Terminator Genisys. Arnie is now old period. But I still want to see him in his Terminator role so when I first saw the trailer and felt like pinagpilitan lang yung movie eh? hehehe, but still it was one of my awaited movie for this year.

It was a good movie. I can't help but become emotional on some scenes, reminiscing my childhood fave actor and movie. Batang 90s lang. I'll never get tired hearing his "I'll be back" line. :)
On the other hand, they were able to get a Sarah Connor look alike but the Kyle guy? sino ba yun?

It was a rainy sunday so our late lunch fits the weather.
Chicken Mami (130) and Special Asado Siopao (85) from Masuki :)
Their mami still has that weird smell and taste hehehe but it's their siopao that is really a hit.
So big and the lots of asado fillings, it also comes with lots of asado sauce that you can also pour into your mami. yum2x!

Happy week ahead!

Movie and Eats: Fast 7 and Burgers

One last ride :))

Last Easter Sunday, we went to Galleria to watch Fast and Furious which seems like I've watched a Mission Impossible movie, Kulang na lang si Tom Cruise.
Jason Statham was a very good villain, good thing they include him here :))
I went a bit emotional too, when they did a flashback of the previous films, good old memories when all of them still look young.

Fast forward just last this weekend:
Saturday brekkie, M's request: Burger King breakfast (our first time to try)

He ordered the spam and egg meal while I went for the mushroom and egg burger,  + hasbrown :)

For dinner, we dined again at Triple Os :))

We ordered again their yummy chicken supreme.
I really wanted to replicate this at home. ;p

and their Crispy Fish burger
(2 pcs crispy fish, lettuce, tartar sauce)

We just noticed that the burger sauces were few and no extra dipping sauce for the fries. :/

And then Sunday was just spent at home as I don't feel well. We watched Daredevil series on Netflix and also Ancient Aliens which is a very interesting documentation theories on  how our ancestors built some architecture(pyramids of Egypt) without advanced tools. I can't help but thought that maybe we do really have a void history hehehe,
I drank a mug of boiled water with ginger and garlic,  rested well and after a day I'm well again :)

Weekend: Movie break

Saturday night @ Galleria

The Imitation Game

Hello Cumberbatch!!!
Any nerdy role fits him.

Students (esp. Comsci/Math students) should watch this very educational film, based from the true story of Alan Turing who cracked the Enigma ,the machine used by Germans in sending cryptic message during war. Alan Turing built his own machine to decrypt the enigma (Whatta brain!)

This is such a superb film, stunning performance by Cumberbatch, inspirational, educational and wholesome. :)

We passed by Bread story Buy 1 Take 1 of any bread.
I had the blueberry one :)

Sunday, we watched The Interview via Netflix during meals (brekkie and lunch)
I thought I'll cringe on a lot of scenes just like their previous tandem in "This is the End", but none, this is just a light comedy. Such a hilarious movie. James Franco is really good in comedy :)

We also 'tried' watching NightCrawler by Jake Gyllenhaal. but it was very stressful so we didn't finished it haha. I only want a relaxing Sunday. But still I think it is really a brilliant movie, will try to watch it again if I want a crime- thriller movie.

Have a relaxing weekend too!

Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends

When I wrote the Part 1 here, Part 2 seems a long wait!

Well, I still have a hangover from last night. What an epic trilogy, I remember why I love Japan, for bringing us brilliant animes and live actions. :)

The story deviated  from the original but I appreciate and was satisfied by the movie adaptation.
The nostalgia that this movie brings hit me big time.  When I was in HS,  I can't wait for my class to end and I'm excited to go home to watch it on TV. I even try to memorized the anime song by just listening to it lolz.

Takeru Sato portrayed Kenshin perfectly and his acting - flawless. As if he's an anime character that was brought into life. And I think that alone is the reason why the legions of die hard fans accepted the movie and embraced the new story interpretation. So it doesn't matter if Shishio and Sanosuke are chubby ;p

The action scenes are still breathtaking. As if I haven't seen them in the 1st and 2nd movie. I'll never get tired watching their sword fighting style. It looks natural and not exaggerated.

While M doesn't like the battle between the main characters vs Shishio, I appreciate the lesson that it wanted to share with us.

I'm happy that I did not feel Kaoru's annoying character in the third installment. I almost squeal for the two of them when the movie ends. ;p

And the soundtrack Hiten plays infinitely in my head!

Have a great weekend!

Movie: The Expendables, Rurouni Kenshin

The 3rd installment of The Expendables!!!
Hello my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger ;p

To be honest I like the 2nd movie which I blogged here 2 years ago pa pala yun.
Maybe if the new female recruit is the likes of Mila Jovovich (Resident Evil) or Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), it would have been better. This one also has a lot of drama or more like "emote" scenes. And there were lots of explosions involved.
Nevertheless, Arnold Schwarzenegger lines are still funny, Banderas got a funny character and the story line is somehow good. ok na rin.

\(^_^)/

Finally a sequel of Rurouni Kenshin! 2012 pa pala yung last that I blogged here
And I was amazed again by how good they rendered the fighting movements of Kenshin. It looked fast yet you can still see the details. Amazing!
The only scene I don't like were Kaoru's scene, I'm really annoyed by her character ever since! lolz affected much!

This is only the Part 1 and yeah it was super duper bitin.
I can stay in the cinema to watch even if it takes 6 hours ;p
But the good news is that the Part 2 will be showing this September! how cool is that!

Part 2: Rurouni Kenshin, the Legend Ends (September 24)  \^.^/

excited much!

Fridate: Izumi Curry, Guardians of the Galaxy

 Happy Friday!

We went to Podium to watch Guardians of the Galaxy :)
I was not very excited to watch this because the trailer was very lame.
We just feel obliged because it's a "Marvel" film. I was then surprised when M told me that it has good reviews.

And yes, we enjoyed it very much! It was funny, witty and best of all -wholesome! There were also bits of emotional scene or is it just me who cried lolz
In short, pampawala siya ng stress :)
And also, we keep on playing the soundtrack ;p

We used our ePlus card, we need to reload it soon because there are lots of movies to watch for this month :)

Before that, we dined again at Izumi Curry.
M was not in the mood for spicy food so he just ordered the Chicken tonkatsu.
I am feeling sleepy that time and I thought eating a lot of rice will make me feel more tired so I just ordered salad and then we shared an order of Gyoza.

simple and good :)

Movie Dates: Xmen, Edge of Tomorrow, How to Train your Dragon

X-Men: Days of the Future Past
X-Men Days of Future Past poster.jpg

We watched this in Galleria after having a free Greenwich chicken dinner (thanks to BPI promo) ;p

So we got to see Wolverine once again and the younger version of Professor X and Magneto :)))
Michael Fassbender is my favorite here and also Blink, the asian gal with the somewhat portal power.
This movie was surprisingly good bec. some of the previous XMen were really off for me. Maybe any movie that has something to do with time and space looks cool. And why is that future world is always depicted with chaos? ;p Anyhow, the movie was really enjoyable esp with some funny slo-mo at the start and then it gave us a thrilling ride and drama towards the end.

I have read some reviews prior to watching this that they don't like it in 3D. Well, for me 3D is only fit for animated movies. In some live action movie we saw, some view or characters appear too small or become too far in view so watching in 3D is no longer an option.

Edge of Tomorrow

Why watch? It's a Tom Cruise film! We may miss Angelina Jolie's Maleficent (we'll just watch it in Netflix or Google Play) but a sci-fi Tom Cruise film must not be missed!
I did not watch the trailer nor read the synopsis, and I have a not so high expectation bec. I'm not very fond of Emily Blunt so imagine my surprise that this turned out to be a wholesome and brilliant movie.
Basically, it has the same concept in Jake Gyllenhaal's Source Code movie only that this one has glamorous CGI effects and involved some out of this world creatures. We were also able to witness Cruise's character that begin with a normal person, scaredy cat, not combat trained and a clueless guy for a change.

We were able to get 20% discount ticket from Ensogo, P180 instead of P220 sumtin. We were surprised that Megamall cinemas are now good. There are "lazy boy"-like seats in front of the cinema we went in! (Cinema5) Cool!

How to Train your Dragon 2

We watched this one in Gateway bec we have some errands there. We bought tickets first, just a few minutes passed after we're there the line was already long (Independence Day holiday). We killed some time in the newly opened Uniqlo, we picked up some items but let go bec the line was just too long that it may take us more than 2 hours just to queue. We just then bought some foods from BK for our movie food.

This is one of our much awaited movie for this year. The first movie way back 2010 was just light for my heart but this one made me crylalooo!! I'm really emotional when it comes to pets, whether it is a mythical creature or not.

Thumbs up for this movie, Now we want to read the book.

For our next movie trip, we are looking forward to see The Raid 2 next week! :)))

Labor Day Date: Swensens, Spidey Movie, Kebabers

We treated ourselves to Swensens ice cream at Eastwood Mall before watching the movie.
I ordered the chocolate hot fudge and green tea flavors while Coffee Mocha Almond for M.
I thought I can't finish 2 scoops of ice cream, it seems I can eat about 4-6 scoops ;p

Chocolate hot fudge

Green Tea

Just perfect for summer :)

Lookie meron din silang HaloHalo sundae!

Then amazing spidey movie time ;p

Well, what I can say is that it would be super amazing if without the torrid kisses :/
Every character performances were good and my fave would be Harry Osborn who really acts well as kontrabida. There were scenes that made me teary eyed and Spoiler : I'm quite happy that they let Gwen died here and didn't prolong the story. The way she died was also a very good scene and makes sense as compared to original story in the comics.

Afterwards, we had dinner at Kebabers at Eastwood Citywalk2, I had chicken shawarma and beef kebab for him. hmmm it taste like you're eating canned Maling lang :/

I remember that we're not able to wait until the end of credits as we hurried up to the comfort room na ;p
We just thought of searching it on youtube afterwards. But we stayed until the mid credit where they only showed the trailer of X-Men, which we are also looking forward to watch.
And oh the Maleficient trailer looks great, we might watch that too.
Lots of movies for this month!

Life Lately: March Highlights

March is about to end and I only have few blog posts :/

Well, one of the reason is that we spent weekends mostly at home and enjoyed home-cooked meals while watching Detective Conan (700+ episodes to go!). Other times, M would watch Top Gear on Netflix while I attempt on some home baked goodies ;p
Recent dine out made me realize that I can prepare equally delicious and healthy foods without spending too much.

Last night before heading out to see Captain America at Podium, we ate our dinner at home (fried organic tofu w/ bellpeppers) and I brought an apple+lettuce shake for our drinks inside the cinema.

We only bought Cassava Chips from Echo Store for our munch plus we got free salted caramel popcorn bec of Eplus tap pay cards that we paid unknowingly :/

As for the movie, it was a serious one but still light for your heart and not very stressful. Fight sequences and slow-mos were also awesome :) And as usual, waiting for end of credits scene feels awkward bec others started to exit the cinema and we feel unsure of what we are waiting for. Lolz
Anyway, there was indeed an end of credits scene but seriously, it is not worth the wait :/

Another highlight of my week was DADs Buffet, a lunch treat c/o birthday girl Pam :D
I only managed to eat few japanese foods - salmon, cold soba, sushis, tamago; and my 2nd plate- bibingka, relleno, crispy kangkong, fish cake and mushroom lasagna.

(lugi ako sa mga buffet!)

and then we surprised her with a matcha cake from "Homemade by Roshan".
yummy! tastes like an ice cream green tea, creamy smooth on the outside, crisp and chewy torte inside, there was also a layer of green tea with caramel-like consistency together with generous walnuts  scattered inside. Good thing I still have a space for this :)

Green Tea Belgian White Chocolate Torte

I was also able to try this Calea Cake from Bacolod (pasalubong)
- tastes like Mernel's cake ;)

One weekend in Laguna, mom made some pizza ;p

Another highlight of the month that I posted on IG.

hello again to my BugsBunny teeth after 8 long years of wearing braces.
I still need to wear a retainer though. I didn't expect that it will be painful so I only wear them during sleep.

Lastly, M and I enrolled in a swimming class at Ultra by Swimplus PH.  I will share a review after we completed our sessions. We will attend a beach wedding next week where I'll be a bridesmaid for the first time :)  On our recent trip to Greenhills, we tried to complete our swimming and summer stuff. But I still can't find a good sandals to wear with a dress for the beach, so I still have a week to find one.

What are the highlights of your month?

Have a happy weekend!
