Life Lately: March Highlights

March is about to end and I only have few blog posts :/

Well, one of the reason is that we spent weekends mostly at home and enjoyed home-cooked meals while watching Detective Conan (700+ episodes to go!). Other times, M would watch Top Gear on Netflix while I attempt on some home baked goodies ;p
Recent dine out made me realize that I can prepare equally delicious and healthy foods without spending too much.

Last night before heading out to see Captain America at Podium, we ate our dinner at home (fried organic tofu w/ bellpeppers) and I brought an apple+lettuce shake for our drinks inside the cinema.

We only bought Cassava Chips from Echo Store for our munch plus we got free salted caramel popcorn bec of Eplus tap pay cards that we paid unknowingly :/

As for the movie, it was a serious one but still light for your heart and not very stressful. Fight sequences and slow-mos were also awesome :) And as usual, waiting for end of credits scene feels awkward bec others started to exit the cinema and we feel unsure of what we are waiting for. Lolz
Anyway, there was indeed an end of credits scene but seriously, it is not worth the wait :/

Another highlight of my week was DADs Buffet, a lunch treat c/o birthday girl Pam :D
I only managed to eat few japanese foods - salmon, cold soba, sushis, tamago; and my 2nd plate- bibingka, relleno, crispy kangkong, fish cake and mushroom lasagna.

(lugi ako sa mga buffet!)

and then we surprised her with a matcha cake from "Homemade by Roshan".
yummy! tastes like an ice cream green tea, creamy smooth on the outside, crisp and chewy torte inside, there was also a layer of green tea with caramel-like consistency together with generous walnuts  scattered inside. Good thing I still have a space for this :)

Green Tea Belgian White Chocolate Torte

I was also able to try this Calea Cake from Bacolod (pasalubong)
- tastes like Mernel's cake ;)

One weekend in Laguna, mom made some pizza ;p

Another highlight of the month that I posted on IG.

hello again to my BugsBunny teeth after 8 long years of wearing braces.
I still need to wear a retainer though. I didn't expect that it will be painful so I only wear them during sleep.

Lastly, M and I enrolled in a swimming class at Ultra by Swimplus PH.  I will share a review after we completed our sessions. We will attend a beach wedding next week where I'll be a bridesmaid for the first time :)  On our recent trip to Greenhills, we tried to complete our swimming and summer stuff. But I still can't find a good sandals to wear with a dress for the beach, so I still have a week to find one.

What are the highlights of your month?

Have a happy weekend!

Greenhills: Leching Too, Subarashii

We scheduled a day to Greenhills to do some errand all at once.
First, we need to claim our SMACdeals 50% discount voucher from PetExpress \^_^/

Then we went to Greenhills Shopping Center to buy some stuff.

Days before, M was already asking me where we gonna eat at Greenhills and I remember Ms. January's post about Leching so I suggested it. It is located at the G/F of Shoppesville.

I like the siomai (P95) which tastes like it has some hint of shrimps and it is not bland like other siomais. Their signature spareribs rice (P158) is served in a stainless bowl , although it has few black beans and sauce, the meat are tender, juicy and kinda sweet. It's been a while since we ate a good dimsum and everything tastes better with a chili toyomansi ;)

Then we went to Subarashii just a few meters away from LeChing.
It is a small kiosk that sells Japanese sweets and goodies. They are actually known for selling different flavors of Kitkat.

What I'm really after was some Matcha powdered drink. I got a box of Maxim for P195.
I tried it at home with cold water, it is not overly strong and bitter, comparable with a milk tea consistency and I only need to add a few sugar :D

It seems like I am into Matcha at the moment :)

Have a great week ahead!

Saturdate: Osaka Ohsho, MegaFashionHall, Sale

Tea

So I posted this on Instagram ;p

sarap ng dressing :)

My free miso soup :)

I'm not that hungry when I first dine here with my colleagues. Because they specialized in Gyoza, I thought M might like it.

I went back with him and we ordered the set meal which comes with  6 pcs original gyoza, unlimited japanese rice, fruits and miso soup Php270.

I just had their Yasai Itame Php240 and also tasted the Gyoza dipped in mixed miso and soysauce.
Their gyoza is a bit oily and small or I say has few fillings. I remember that whenever I eat Gyoza before I should eat the whole stuff because the fillings will crumble and fall. But here, you can still chop it off in three parts and dip it in sauce using chopstick effortlessly.
Or maybe that's the authentic Gyoza should be? hehe dunno

M requested another serving of his unlimited rice while I'm still halfway on eating my veggies which were not overly cooked so I spent time chewing the crunchy bokchoy, lettuce, bellpeppers and carrots

I also ordered their salad again then minutes later I was told that it was not available

"Nori gyoza na lang po"
"sorry wala na rin po"

"Cheese gyoza "
"wala rin po eh"
:/

Btw, Osaka Ohsho is located at Mega Fashion Hall 3rd/F.

Afterwards, we strolled a bit around fashion hall as we went to 5th floor for the Megatrade shoes and bag sale.
I only bought these Banana Peel Buy 1 Take 1. Php120 only for these two ;)

Then before going home we bought our fave Choco butternut from Dunkin donut that we ate at home while watching Detective Conan :)

Healthy Inspiration: February Healthy Eats

I wrote in my previous healthy inspiration blog post that I might be preparing soups for this month. But what I crave every cold morning of February was just a light meal  = a cup of coffee and toasted bread or pancakes.

My pancakes recipe consist only of just rye flour (from HealthyOptions), eggs, coco sugar and olive oil. One time I added matcha powder that was given to me. Imagine the many possibilities of adding matcha powder on cookies and bread hmmmmm.....

topped with flax seeds

I also enjoyed a lot of green smoothies - apples + lettuce. (making up for a lazy breakfast)

I always prepare my favorite adobong broccolli and also tried to adobo some ampalaya and labanos lolz
 Partnered with black rice.

in fairness masarap ang adobong labanos :)

Then maybe because of extending bedtime in the morning, I came up with the idea of boiling a batch of squash and add it to any meal as a side dish so I can still have a quick, easy, light and healthy lunch or dinner.

When I went to Laguna one weekend, I finally had some real nice home cooked meals :)

and also my father boiled some rootcrops for merienda

Nothing fancy, just nutritious food

My recent purchase at Sugarleaf, now I know where to buy organic eggs.
Actually same price in the mall but they are large in size  Php 150 for 15pcs :)

a very nice quote I found online :)

BDJ Perks at CBTL

It is the first time I owned a BDJ planner. I find it a bit pricey, not to mention "bulky" so it does not appeal to me for the past years. I'm satisfied organizing using excel and outlook calendar.

When I got this as a birthday present, I'm happy that I can finally try it (for free) and learn what's the buzz is about. I'm still using my ever reliable Excel that I customized for my planning needs so I just use the BDJ for additional notes(to buy/to bring list) and meal planner.

I claimed the lifestyle card a week ago and learned that I can use this for many discounts aside from the coupons that are already inside the planner. I find the CBTL's discount coupons useful. I already claimed the buy 1 take 1 few weeks ago.

When we are in Galleria, we used again my 2 CBTL's coupon for free drinks.
I didn't even know that they have pasta and salad meals.

We just had a tomato pasta and ceasar salad (a safe and simple choice).
The pasta came with a plain bread that at first we wished it was a garlic bread but realized then that it was a good thing being plain to balance the overpowering (but in a good way) pasta sauce.

The salad has a generous servings, I should have mixed everything together so the dressing does not overwhelmed me towards the end. While eating, the simple goodness of this salad made me think why I haven't ever prepare one for ourselves at home. Even I eat veggies everyday, the thought of  eating "salad" at home sounds plain boring. But then, I need to change that thought and will incorporate more salad now. I just need to experiment on creating my own salad dressing ;)

Back to BDJ planner ;p, I think the price of P590++ for a planner is pricey but because of all the discounts you can avail, on the second thought - sulit na rin siya esp. if you frequent the establishments that offers discounts. I am not so sure but I might find myself getting one BDJ again next year ;p
